The exact weekly routine of a 4-property owner who still has weekends.
By The Symplehost team
The Sunday reset
Sunday afternoon is the single most leveraged hour of a host's week. Not because it produces revenue — because it prevents the firefighting that consumes everything else.
The whole routine fits on one page. Here it is.
Monday — read the week
Open the calendar. Eight properties, seven days, three OTAs. The question isn't "what's booked" — it's "what's about to break."
- Check gap nights (one-night holes in the calendar)
- Confirm the cleaning rota for the week
- Skim the AI-handled threads from the weekend to catch anything that needed your judgment
Total time: 20 minutes.
Tuesday — pricing pass
Once a week is plenty. Daily is anxiety, not strategy.
Look at the rate recommendations the pricing engine pushed for the next 60 days. Approve, override, or decline. The engine doesn't need babysitting — it needs strategic input once a week.
Total time: 30 minutes.
Wednesday — direct booking nudges
If you have a returning-guest discount engine wired up, this is when you check it. Who stayed last month? Did they get the post-stay email? Did anyone book direct off it?
A 15-minute habit. It compounds.
Thursday — operations review
Maintenance log. Repeat issues. Vendor contacts that need updating. The week's photos from cleaners.
Total time: 25 minutes.
Friday — owner check-in
If you co-own properties, this is the half-hour you owe your partners. Numbers, occupancy, anything broken, anything coming up.
If you operate solo, this is the slot for the longer strategic question: what's the next property, what's the next market, what's working that you want more of.
Sunday — the reset
- Skim escalated threads from the week
- Review the gap nights for next week
- Plan the one host-touch you'll do (welcome card refresh, new property photo, neighborhood guide update)
Total time: 30 minutes.
What you stopped doing
The whole point of this routine is what's missing.
- You're not replying to messages all week. The AI does it; you review escalations only.
- You're not repricing nightly. The engine does it; you approve weekly.
- You're not chasing cleaners. Tasks auto-assign on checkout.
- You're not syncing calendars manually. One source of truth, every OTA.
The work that's left is the work that matters: strategy, relationships, and the half-hour reset on Sunday.
Your co-host never sleeps. So you can.
